MPDClick’s Spring Summer 14 ‘Verve’ forecast has been sucessfully illustrated in Fiona Cibani’s Resort collection for PORTS 1961, where the designer merges metropolitan life in a subdued temperament of exotic getaways, inspiring a sporty ‘City Resort’ collection. ‘Verve’ draws upon the major sporting events and booming South American economy – an aesthetic illustrated in PORTS 1961 Resort 2014 collection.
A striking palette of citrus, terracotta and coral add vitality and a bright outlook to the collection, signature floral prints and rugged textures such as snakeskin, lacquered tweed, iridescent raffia and gold brocade round out the sporty ‘City Resort’ look giving classics a modern spin. Crisp white tuxedos and masculine tailored shirts prove popular, reflecting a touch of athleticism, a summer fur gilet and the charming coprispalla however offer a playful attitude for resort-wear.
Structure is infused with summer tailoring borrowed from his closet in bonded cottons and supple suedes in nude, khaki and sage in an expedition trench and cropped safari jacket. Accessories combine resort glamour and urban vibes encouraged through kilted mules, platform sandals and sleek buckled cummerbunds in lizard print evoking the essence of the PORTS 1961 woman evoking an urban safari.
