At the start of the week Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane showcased at the London Collections: Men with a futuristic, tech aesthetic for his SS14 ready-to-wear collection.
3D-inspired renderings of human expression dominated the collections forming two piece suit staples that were emphasized with a minimalist, no frills finish. Kane’s collection focused on striking prints for the season, providing an early indicator of MPDClick’s SS15 forecast, ‘Sensorium’ where optical illusion inspired designs will prevail. Classic black and white pieces in the collection were juxtaposed with energetic reds, vivid blues and neon yellows creating a hazy summer attraction. Kane added tailored pieces to his SS14 collection updating pinstripe suit trousers with clashing patterns to produce a unique computerized print.
Casual shapes formed the majority of the collection; hoodies, scarves and tees were updated in statement block colours and optical illusion prints with co-ord separates offering the most directional interpretation which are sure to be picked up by the fashion crowd next season. The combination of highly wearable silhouettes and progressive contemporary prints ensure the collection’s commercial viability while hitting the high fashion nail on the head.
